Avoid eating food at your workstation/table. Any activity that is unrelated to work should not be undertaken at your table.
While sitting or working at a table, keep the table’s left heavier but not with pictures/idols of gods! Do not place idols or images of deities on your desk, as this is not considered respectful. Gods are supreme powers and their idols should be placed in an area that is separate from day-to-day articles.
Work on a regular-shaped table, like a square or rectangle. Strangely-shaped tables are not auspicious. An ideal table is one that has four corners. The length and breadth of the table should not be more than 1 :2. If the length of the table is more than this recommended portion, it may lead to confusion and delays.
Facing the North or East while working is very auspicious and makes you feel fresh. The North is owned by Kuber, Lord of Wealth, and is very beneficial for those in the trading business, while the East – the direction of sunrise and growth – is excellent for professionals and those in the service industry.
Don’t place yourself in the center of the room; choose a corner towards the South or West. On your left should be a closed area or wall.
If your workstation faces the North, keep your files and any electronic gadgets like computer, etc. on the left side of your table. However, if your workstation faces the East, make sure that the aforementioned office paraphernalia is kept on the right side of your table.
Beware of beams overhead; they cause unnecessary stress. Beams hidden under false ceilings are as bad. A door directly ahead of you is not auspicious. Doors and windows, even behind the table, invite betrayal. Sit against a solid wall.
Office buildings that face the North, North-east, or North-west are also considered very prosperous, as these directions are extremely auspicious: they always attract good luck and positive energies.
Avoid using an oval-shaped dining table, as it is inauspicious. The dining table should not be visible from the main door. A curtain or a false partition can be used as a screen.
Sharp utensils such as knives and scissors should be kept covered at all times. Displaying these or leaving them out in the open can give rise to bad or unpleasant relationships with family and friends. Similarly, pickles should also be kept in a covered place as an open display can create sourness in relationships.
